Tea

 

Tea is an infusion made by steeping processed leaves, buds, of the tea bush (Camellia sinensis) in hot water for several minutes. The processing can include oxidation, heating, drying, and the addition of other herbs, flowers, spices, and fruits. The four basic types of tea are black tea, oolong tea, green tea, and white tea. The term "herbal tea" usually refers to infusions or tisane of fruit or herbs that contain no Camellia sinensis.

Black Tea

Black Tea refers to the colour of the oxidized leaves. While green tea usually loses its flavor within a year, black tea retains its flavor for several years. Black tea still accounts for over ninety percent of all tea sold in the West. "Back tea" is also used to describe a cup of tea without milk ("served black").

CTC Tea

 CTC Tea

CTC Tea is processed using the "crush, tear and curl" (CTC) method. Leaves processed using the CTC method are not rolled, but are placed through cylindrical rollers with small teeth. The rollers crush, tear and curl the tea leaves, hence the name of the method.

White Tea

 White Tea

 White tea is  derived from Camellia sinensis. White tea shares many of the same chemical properties and health effects of tea. The  ratio of the polyphenol compounds found in tea varies widely from one type of white tea to another, frequently overlapping with chemical compositions found in green tea. These compounds have been shown to protect against certain types of cancer both in vitro and in vivo.
